Eleanor “Ella” Barbara Pavella’s

“FORGET ME NOT” ALBUM

In 1901 as a twelve year old, Eleanor Pavella received a small “Forget Me Not” album as a Christmas gift from her Aunt Barbara (nee Schrott) Siebott. She used it to collect remembrance notes from her family and friends. It was traditional for each author to compose his or her message into a short rhyme. Those with artistic ability might also take the opportunity to embellish the message.

Note: The album is 4 inches by 6 inches. Not all the pages were used. Each individual picked any unused page they desired to write on and not necessarily the next empty page. Some of the pages were loose when my Aunt Joan Castellan gave it to me; the page numbers are the order in which I found them. Besides the notes written in the album, I also provide images of three German “New Year” cards and a postcard that were kept inside the back cover.

I hope to find the time to transcribe the old German script, translate the messages and identify more of the individuals in the future. But I didn’t want to delay sharing the contents of her “Forget Me Not” album with other family members. Questions, comments or additional information about the material are always welcome.
