SCHUETTE/MORAN FAMILIES

  • LINK TO materials on the 1821 Whiteboy Raid on the Askeaton Tithe Proctor. Our Terence MORAN, the leader, was mortally wounded. His brother Michael was one of three captured. They were forced to dig the “croppy hole” in which the dead were buried and then stood trial. Michael was acquitted but the other two were convicted and hung. This event led to the Irish rising in west Limerick and assassinating the local constable Major Going.

  • LINK TO materials on the 1841 sinking of the Brig Minstrel near Quebec on which our James and Bridget Kennerk from Limerick drowned with two sons.
